AN ANCIENT HISTORY,
A FAMILY TRADITION
Olives trees have grown in Sicily since the time of the ancient Greeks and Phoenicians who inhabited the island over 2,700 years ago. For generations, our family has farmed olive trees in the Valle de Belice in southwestern Sicily - an area known for its rich fertile soil and warm Mediterranean climate.

In 2005, our CEO Tommaso Asaro invigorated the family farmland by committing to a modern organic approach to farming that is sustainable for the land, free of harsh chemicals and GMOs, and beneficial to the local farm workers and economy. This approach has led to award winning extra virgin olive oils and olives that carry the rich flavors of the ancient land.

Today, we are happy to claim that our family farms produce the most Nocellara del Belice (Castelvetrano) olives in the world.
THE TEXAS CONNECTION
Tommaso Asaro was impressed by the similarities between Texans and Sicilians when he first came to the Lone Star State almost twenty years ago. He learned that both cultures are very proud of their regional identity, have diverse histories, appreciate meals outside with friends and family, and both have a passion for delicious food - especially food with a bit of heat! To honor his newfound love of Texas, Tommaso partnered with Texas' own H-E-B to form a brand of products perfect for a Texas plate - Il Rustico di Casa Asaro®.

Over the centuries, Sicily became a melting pot of Mediterranean cultures from every direction with each culture leaving an imprint to the diverse Sicilian mosaic.
Fiery flavors, sweet desserts, rustic landscapes full of time-honored recipes, vibrant produce, fresh seafood straight from the boat, and wines produced from some of the most fertile volcanic soil in the world - these are just some of the wonderful culinary aspects of our beautiful homeland.
